Prep Readiness Program

It is our goal to provide a positive and successful start for your neurodiverse child. We work closely with your childcare service on an individual education and care plan for your child. The plan includes important information about your child, such as their strengths, interests, and motivations. It also describes how we will support your child’s specific needs, including strategies to help your child meet their goals and adjustments for your child. Regular meetings with educators during the early months can be part of your preparation. If you have concerns about your child’s childcare experience, you can advocate for your child.


We provide 1:1 support classes that are tailored to each individual child’s needs and goals. These classes will be for 1-2 hours depending on the child’s needs. Group classes will commence in the second half of 2024 and will be for 3 hours.!



How Our Prep-Readiness Classes Can Help Your Child:

  • Be prepared for a whole new world: We create a supportive classroom space to introduce children to classroom expectations and routine.
  • Boost Confidence: We create a supportive space where kids can shine! Watch their confidence grow!
  • Make Friends: Through targeted group activities, we’ll support your child with the critical social and emotional skills to make new friends easily. Equip and inspire your child to connect with others in their new prep environment. School friends are great friends!


Goals in Both Individual and Group Sessions:

  • Fine motor skills: Developing fine motor skills is crucial for children to perform everyday tasks such as holding a pencil, using scissors, and opening lunchboxes. Activities such as finger painting, playdough, and threading beads can help improve fine motor skills.
  • Social skills: Children with autism and disabilities may find it challenging to interact with peers. Social skills such as turn-taking, sharing, and making eye contact can be taught through structured activities such as role-playing, board games, and group projects.
  • Routines: Establishing routines can help children feel more secure and confident. Practicing routines such as lining up, taking turns, and following instructions can help children prepare for school.
  • Self-care skills: Children should be encouraged to develop self-care skills such as toileting, washing hands, and dressing themselves. These skills can be taught through modelling and repetition.


  

We require a full intake meeting prior to classes commencing. During this meeting, we will determine if your child requires a 1:1 ratio within the group or is able to attend with a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio. It is also important to share your child’s medical management plan with us if your child has special health care needs, allergies, or a medical condition.


You can use your NDIS funds from your Capacity Building Supports.
